Asian Association of Utah’s Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (S.T.E.P.) class teaches modern child-rearing techniques to Utah’s refugee communities in an individually tailored, culturally-sensitive and success oriented setting. Parents will learn how to foster a better relationship with their children through effective communication despite generational and language barriers.

Now Enrolling for STEP Spanish Parenting Class

Parenting is one of the most rewarding and challenging journeys a person can take. At the Asian Association of Utah, we believe every parent deserves support, tools, and community to help them thrive in that role.

That's why we offer our Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) program, a free, culturally responsive parenting class designed to help parents build stronger, healthier relationships with their children. Classes are taught in a setting that is individually tailored, culturally sensitive, and success-oriented, helping parents navigate generational and language barriers through effective communication strategies.

This fall, Spanish classes run every Saturday from September 26th through October 24th via Zoom, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Participants who complete the program receive a graduation certificate and $50.

Last year, 145 parents graduated from our STEP program, our highest enrollment ever, with 94% reporting improved family relationships and 98.8% saying they learned helpful parenting skills they immediately applied at home. Parents shared that they learned to listen to their children, reduce conflict, and build stronger family bonds.

Whether you're navigating a new culture, bridging a language gap, or simply looking for tools to connect more deeply with your kids, this class is for you.
