Celebrating the Remarkable Career of Sheri Bodily: 25 Years of Dedication to Refugee Education

Sheri joined the AAU in 2000, bringing with her a deep passion for teaching and an unwavering commitment to equity and inclusion. Over the years, she became a cornerstone of the organization’s refugee and immigrant programs, guiding adult learners as they tackled the challenges of adapting to a new country, culture, and language.

Her classroom was more than just a place to learn English—it was a place of hope, growth, and belonging. Sheri approached her work with patience, empathy, and a deep respect for the diverse backgrounds of her students. Under her leadership, the Adult ELL program expanded in both scope and reach, continually adapting to meet the evolving needs of the community.

Colleagues and students alike often describe Sheri as a mentor, a role model, and a steady presence in times of transition. Her thoughtful approach to curriculum development, her talent for building strong relationships, and her tireless advocacy for adult learners have set a gold standard in refugee education.

As she embarks on her well-earned retirement, we celebrate not just her years of service, but the countless lives she has touched along the way. Sheri leaves behind a stronger, more resilient community—and a team inspired by her example to carry her vision forward.

From everyone at the Asian Association of Utah, thank you, Sheri. You’ve made a lasting difference, and you will be deeply missed.
