Afterschool Program

Our Afterschool program supports academic and social-emotional growth during the crucial post-resettlement process. Students engage with trained staff and volunteers who help them understand and complete their homework. Additionally, they are given a chance to grow their social-emotional skills as they participate in pro-social enrichment activities.

Leaders and Counselors in Training

Leaders and Counselors in Training identifies refugee and immigrant youth who want to learn leadership skills that will help them and their communities thrive. Program youth have unique opportunities to engage in their community while simultaneously learning leadership skills for their future careers and educational pursuits.

Youth Case Management

Youth who come to the US as refugees or immigrants face countless obstacles. We provide support for those who struggle as a result of the resettlement process. Our ACE program is designed to identify youth at-risk of school dropout or other behavioral issues. Case Managers work with individual youth to identify needs and set goals to help them thrive in the US.

Parent Program

We uses two evidence-based programs: DARE to Be You and Parenting Wisely. Each program helps parents understand the parenting laws and norms that exist in the United States. Parents feel more comfortable and confident in their parenting skills after attending the course.

Abdullah's Story

Abdullah enrolled in the RIC-AAU afterschool program at Evergreen Jr. High. He had shown little interest in school and was failing most of his classes. After attending the program regularly, his grades and behavior showed steady improvement and he is no longer failing any classes! Instructors describe him now as “kinder, patient, and calmer.”
