Parenting Program Interpreter - Somali

We are currently seeking to hire a Parenting Program Interpreter for an upcoming Dare to Be You (DTBY) parenting program. The DTBY program is an effective parenting program that provides education for parents to enhance their knowledge and skills as a parent which will assist in building strong family relationships. The program will be offered to Somali speaking parents. The program will run August 5-November 30th. The interpreter will start ASAP to help recruit for the August 5th start date. 

Position Purpose
The DTBY “Program Interpreter” position is open for Somali language interpreter. We are seeking an enthusiastic, attentive, reliable, and proficient Somali interpreter to fill the position. The purpose of the position is to assist with program recruitment, coordinator, client transportation and program instruction to execute the weekly 3-6 hours of class time. The weekly classes are typically held on Saturday from 10am-1 pm but the program time could vary. We would require someone who is a self-starter and who doesn’t mind helping their community on evenings and weekends.

 Assist instructor with interpreting weekly class session
 Assist program coordinator providing transportation for clients if needed
 Assist program coordinator making calls and making home visit for recruiting when needed
 Assist program coordinator with assigned task to meet the goal of program
 Must have clean driving record and willing to drive 12 passenger van

 The required working hours are: 10 am - 1 pm on Saturdays and additional program recruiting and coordination hours scheduled with the help of the Parenting Program Coordinator.
 The extra hours will vary and depends on the assigned task by the Parent Program Coordinator.
 The program interpreter will be paid $13-15 per hour, DOE.
 This is a temporary position, hence no benefits/PTO/Vacations hours are offered.
