About the program: The Trafficking in Person (TIP) program at RIC-AAU provides comprehensive victim services to survivors of all forms of human trafficking, regardless of background. Through intensive case management, education and outreach, and community connection, we support individuals to recover and rebuild after their victimization.
Purpose of position: The Survivor Leadership Intern will work closely with TIP program staff on the development and rollout of Survivor Leadership programming for survivors of all forms of human trafficking. The TIP program is looking to expand survivor-led programming, and the Survivor Leadership Intern will specifically assist in the planning and design phase of this new component of programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with TIP team to understand the structure of current programs and services
- Support the process of development of Survivor Leadership programming through researching best practices and similar models
- Create documents to map out proposed programming
- With TIP Program Director and Survivor Leadership Specialist, complete program plan for funder approval
- Connect with other community agencies and partners to support implementation of programming
- Perform other tasks as identified and assigned
Qualifications:
- Self-starter, with energy and a positive attitude
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities
- Demonstrate empathy and utilize trauma-informed, victim-centered approaches to services
- Survivors are highly encouraged to apply—this is an excellent opportunity to build leadership and professional skills
- Must complete background check
This is a part-time (20 hours/week), unpaid internship. Internship will run May through August 2018.
The Survivor Leadership Intern is directly supervised by the TIP Program Director.
