Community Wellness Support Staff

Salary: $9 - $12/hr, DOE

Job Description: Refugee & Immigrant Center – Asian Association of Utah is seeking an organized and dependable team member who will support all operations of outpatient programs facilitated within the Community Wellness team. The purpose of the Community Wellness team at Refugee & Immigrant Center – Asian Association of Utah is to improve the quality of life for refugees, immigrant families, and Salt Lake County residents by providing affordable, culturally-responsive mental health services, substance abuse treatment, and domestic violence education in an outpatient setting.


  • Complete intakes, including paperwork, database registration, and verifying funding sources
  • Determine and collect copays, and complete income reviews
  • Assist with administering outcome questionnaires (RHS-15)
  • Work with clients and interpreters to confirm appointments
  • Conduct home outreaches to newly-referred refugees regarding intake appointments
  • Assist with transportation
  • Screen walk-ins and referrals to determine if they are appropriate for services
  • Coordinate appointments, including scheduling broken/no show appointments
  • Provide case management services
  • Process record requests
  • Verify funding for substance use clients on a monthly basis
  • Filing and other administrative tasks
  • Assisting clinical staff with other support functions as needed


  • High school graduate or GED
  • Proficiency using computer, especially with Microsoft Office and Excel programs
  • Ability to learn new software programs quickly, database experience preferred
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness; experience working with refugee population preferred but not required
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrate professionalism in changing and challenging situations
  • Ability to multitask and work well independently and as a team member
  • Process problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, auto insurance, and own vehicle
  • Second language preferred but not required

Position Type: Temporary (until September 2017) with potential to become permanent, Part-Time (20 hours/week)

Start Date: ASAP

Hours: Monday – Friday; schedule can be discussed
