Room to grow at the Sunnyvale Neighborhood Center

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the grand reopening of the Sunnyvale Neighborhood Center on August 5th!

The day was full of celebration as youth from the center led visitors on tours and groups posed for shots in the photo booth.

This expansion marks the second time that the center has need to grow. Originally located in a small apartment in 2014, the center moved to the current space in 2014. As programs have continued to expand, the center needed more space and in early 2016, we acquired the space next door to the center. At the beginning of June, construction began on Sunnyvale's expansion. First came the demolition work, as unneeded cabinets and walls were torn out. Then, a wall separating the newly acquired space from the rest of the facility was connected. A bathroom, storage closet, and cupboards were added to the hallway. Two new classrooms were built along the outer wall, taking advantage of the large windows. New carpet was added and with a fresh coat of paint, the expansion was ready for use.

Many thanks to all who made the Sunnyvale Neighborhood Center expansion possible!
